Johnny Ragin III catching attention

With a productive start to his senior season, Johnny Ragin III, who has offers from BYU and Oregon State, hopes to draw some more Pac-12 interest. Tom Hauck for ESPN.com

Five games into his senior season, Johnny Ragin III has few complaints.

In addition to helping Wilsonville (Ore.) knock off Bend (Ore.) Mountain View -- the defending Class 5A champions -- 49-33 Friday night, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound athlete continues to catch the attention of programs across the country.

Ragin finished the game against the Cougars with 11 tackles and two sacks. He forced a fumble, pressured the quarterback throughout the game and had three carries for 45 yards.

“Things are going pretty well and I’m playing pretty well and the team is looking great, so everything is looking good,” Ragin said.

His mentality is simple.

“I’m just continuing to work on the field to see some stuff happen off the field,” Ragin said.

The senior, who participated in The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. this summer, currently has offers from BYU, Oregon State and Portland State. But he is also hearing from plenty of Pac-12 schools in addition to Notre Dame and Auburn.

He recently posted his highlight video from the first five games of the season. He is confident that, if he just keeps getting things done on the field, the offers will eventually roll in.

Right now, instead of worrying about his college future, he is working to lead his team toward a state championship.

“I want to focus on my team and help my team win a state championship,” Ragin said. “And then, whatever offers come in after that, whether it’s Pac-12, some SEC offers, I’m just looking to get all of the options in and then make a decision after that.”

Both Washington and Washington State have been in touch with Ragin and the two programs are reviewing the three-star recruit’s highlight video.
