Travis Frederick changes jersey numbers

September, 3, 2013
IRVING, Texas -- If you are a fan of Travis Frederick and bought the rookie center’s jersey already -- and if you did, you are family or a big fan of interior offensive line play -- you will need to call the tailor.

Frederick has changed from No. 70 to No. 72.

When the Cowboys drafted Frederick in the first round, he took No. 70 because defensive tackle Robert Callaway had No. 72. When Callaway was cut in the spring following a knee injury, Jeris Pendleton took over the number.

With Pendleton cut, Frederick made the switch.

“It’s a number,” Frederick said. “It’s not really a big deal. For me, I was always 72 in high school and college, so I thought it’d be nice to have it if I could have it. If it was 70, it didn’t really matter.”
