IRVING, Texas – DeMarcus Ware made a dream come true Friday when he met with a boy through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Knowing you were able to make a kid’s day, when they’ve been waiting maybe a whole year to come meet you, to do something to brighten their day,” the Dallas Cowboys defensive end said, “it’s always exciting.”

On Oct. 3, Ware will lend his name to the Big Splash Gala at the Dallas World Aquarium to help raise money for the Dallas Leadership Foundation’s initiatives to help low-income families.

“When you don’t have the means and you sort of get that second chance for maybe having some nice clothes or to be able to send your child to school with supplies for that year, I’m coming from that type of family,” Ware said. “Back home we didn’t have everything, but to be able to go to the community center and get things we needed was perfect. Now we’re doing the same thing at this gala. It’s a great opportunity to be a part of it.”
