IRVING, Texas -- At his introductory news conference with the Denver Broncos, DeMarcus Ware started off by thanking Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and former coach Bill Parcells for giving him his first chance in the NFL.

In a tweet on Monday Ware again thanked Jones and Parcells, but also had a message for his former teammates and fans:

"I was honored to wear the Star alongside my former teammates & will always hold a special place in my heart for the Cowboys Nation and the Dallas community."

In nine years Ware became the Cowboys' all-time leader in sacks with 117 and was named to the Pro Bowl seven times.

The next time he signs a contract with the Cowboys will be when he retires, which should lead to his name being added to the team's famed Ring of Honor.
