Officials breakdown: Gene Steratore

IRVING, Texas – Gene Steratore will officiate Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, which is a good sign. Steratore’s crew is one of the best and allows teams to play.

Unfortunately the last time the Cowboys saw Steratore came in Week 8 against the Eagles in 2011, which was a 34-7 loss in which they lost linebacker Sean Lee to a dislocated wrist and had no answer for running back LeSean McCoy (185 yards).

The Cowboys had only three penalties in that game for 20 yards. The Eagles were penalized six times for 33 yards.

Last week Steratore worked the big NFC South matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. The crew threw nine flags, including three in the first five snaps of the game. The Saints were penalized four times for 40 yards and the Panthers had three penalties for 26 yards.
