Dallas Cowboys: Kevin Mathis

Cowboys welcome back former players

August, 19, 2011
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Cowboys will welcome some 50 former players to today’s practice against San Diego as part of an alumni day at Cowboys Stadium.

While coach Jason Garrett does not want his team to live in the past, he does want the players to understand the organization’s history. Two former players, Leon Lett and Kevin Mathis, have been helping coach the defensive line and secondary during training camp. Charles Haley, Larry Allen and Mike Myers have been around as well.

“Sometimes it can be instructive to see what’s gone on in the past, particularly when you’re in an organization like this,” Garrett said. “To have the relationships that I have and this organization has with some of these players, we think that’s a good thing. It’s been a real positive experience really for everybody."
ESPN 103.3 FM is hosting its once-a-year Jingle Ball celebration Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Cape Buffalo in Addison.
