The NCAA released its latest graduation rates and Oklahoma and Texas football programs had the lowest rates among Big 12 South teams. Baylor had the highest. The data was compiled from freshman classes that entered from 1999 to 2002.

Oklahoma's graduation rate for football players in that period was 45 percent according to the NCAA and 37 percent according to the federal government. The numbers are different because the NCAA takes into account transfers. Texas had a 49 percent graduation rate, tied with Georgia Tech for the lowest among the top-10 teams in the current BCS Standings.

The overall graduation rate for football players at FBS schools is 67 percent, according to the NCAA numbers.

Baylor led the way with a 70 percent graduation rate. Texas Tech followed at 69 with Oklahoma State at 61. Texas A&M had a 55 percent graduation rate. All of those figures are according to the NCAA.

Among other local teams, SMU was 79 percent with TCU at 65 percent and UNT at 59 percent.
