Texas Tech released its 2010 football schedule this week and, as expected, the Red Raiders and TCU will not meet in 2010. Of course it's been well-documented that TCU and Oregon State are working out the details of a Sept. 4 meeting at Cowboys Stadium.

The TCU-Tech game is tentatively set for 2012 in Lubbock.

Tech will open the 2010 season at home against the rejuvinated June Jones SMU Mustangs, a trap game if there ever was one for new Red Raiders coach Tommy Tuberville. Tech then plays at New Mexico before starting the Big 12 schedule at home against Texas. It's a strange schedule that wraps up with two non-conference home games against TCU-replacement Weber State (Nov. 20) and Houston (Nov. 27).

According to Tech, a football schedule hasn't closed with two non-conference games since Tech joined the Southwest Conference in 1960.

Meanwhile, TCU, coming off its Fiesta Bowl payday, will play a budget-friendly, all-Metroplex non-conference schedule with it's longest road trip coming at SMU on Sept. 11. Baylor comes to Amon G. Carter Stadium on Sept. 18 (and that could be an interesting matchup with Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin returning). The Frogs will have a home game on Sept. 25 against an undetermined opponent, one that is expected to be a FBS team, so again another tough non-conference slate for TCU.
