FORT WORTH, Texas -- After a controversial call took a home run away from left fielder Jason Coats, TCU had to settle for a 4-0 lead following the seventh.
The Frogs earned the fifth run back in the eighth.
In the top of the seventh, Coats fired a shot out to the right field wall. On replay, the ball looked as if it bounced off the top of the wall and should have been ruled a home run. However, the umpire disagreed and called the hit a triple. Coats, a Plano West product, drove in a run but was stranded on base.
In the eighth, TCU advanced Kyle Von Tungeln to third on a sacrifice before bringing him home with another sacrifice from Aaron Schultz.
Baylor put center fielder/closer Brooks Pickard into the game in the eighth after a nice start from Craig Fritsch.
TCU has stuck with starter Steven Maxwell, who had allowed three hits and two walks with ten strikeouts through eight innings.
