September, 5, 2010
There were several dents made in the SMU record book during the Mustangs' 35-27 loss to Texas Tech on Sunday in Lubbock.
- Matt Szymanski booted a school record 61-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to pull SMU within 35-20 and set the stage for a late surge by the Mustangs that fell short.
- Margus Hunt’s blocked field goal in the second quarter was the eighth of his career, tying the SMU record (Chad Patton 1990-93) and tying for ninth in NCAA history for combined blocked kicks.
- Darryl Fields had a 92-yard kickoff return, tied for the 10th longest in SMU history. He totaled 157 yards on four kick returns, ninth most in a game for an SMU player.
