SMU defense makes key stop to end 1st

ORLANDO -- The Mustangs' middle lineback Taylor Reed came in on a blitz and sacked UCF quarterback Jeff Godfrey for a 10-yard loss on third down to end the Knights' second drive. Reed had six tackles (five solos) in the first quarter alone for the Mustangs.

The first quarter, played in a brisk 35 minutes, ended with UCF having the ball for 13:21 of the quarter. SMU has the football on its second possession as the second quarter begins. It remains 7-0 UCF.
