Six Big 12 teams made an appearance in the preseason AP poll, released earlier this morning.

One of them -- Oklahoma -- even received a first-place vote. That's an even bigger surprise considering ballots from the media members who make up the poll were due after the news that starting offensive linemen Tyler Evans and Ben Habern wouldn't be on the team this year because of injuries.

See the full polls here.

Here's how each Big 12 team finished:

4. Oklahoma (1)

11. West Virginia

15. Texas

19. Oklahoma State.

20. TCU

22. Kansas State

Others receiving votes:

35. Baylor

No huge surprises after the release of the USA Today coaches poll earlier this month.

Oklahoma, West Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma State all have the same ranking in both polls.

TCU is three spots lower in the media poll than its spot at No. 17 in the coaches poll. Kansas State is just one spot higher in the coaches' poll than in the media poll.

Remember, the AP poll is not factored into the BCS standings, which debut in October, but the coaches poll is part of the formula to decide who plays for the national title.

I'm not an AP voter, but here's how I voted for our ESPN.com power rankings.
