Recruiting is a year-round game, and it's time to take another look at how next year's recruiting classes are progressing. Getting off to a quick start can get things rolling for any class. Here's how I'd rank the classes thus far. Click on each team to see the full class, though you'll need ESPN Insider to see it.

1. Texas

Total commits: 8
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 7
Class notes: The Longhorns picked up a seventh ESPN 150 Watch List member last month when outside linebacker Cameron Hampton, a Dallas native, chose to spend his career in burnt orange.

2. Oklahoma

Total commits: 3
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 2
Class notes: The Sooners picked up a huge commitment this week when Pflugerville, Texas, running back Samaje Perine picked Oklahoma over Alabama and TCU, among others, giving OU three commits and two on the ESPN 150 Watch List.

3. Texas Tech

Total commits: 4
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 1
Class notes: The Red Raiders haven't picked up a commitment since our last update, but dual-threat passer D.J. Gillins hails from Jacksonville, Fla., and is the class' top commit thus far.

4. Baylor Bears

Total commits: 3
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 1
Class notes: The Bears haven't added a commitment since our last update, but ATH Davion Hall is a Texarkana, Texas, native who stands at 6-foot-2, 194 pounds and gives the Bears their lone ESPN 150 Watch List member.

5. TCU Horned Frogs

Total commits: 4
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 0
Class notes: TCU added two commits in the past month, including a pro-style quarterback in Grayson Muehlstein. The 6-foot-3, 187-pounder hails from Decatur, Texas and committed to the Frogs a day after Longview, Texas, defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson.

6. Oklahoma State

Total commits: 1
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 1
Class notes: Oklahoma State's lone commit is running back Devon Thomas, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder from Broken Arrow, Okla.

7. Kansas State

Total commits: 3
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 0
Class notes: Kansas State's gotten hot over the past 10 days, adding all three of its commits in that period. The Wildcats now have commits from RB Dalvin Warmack, center Dalton Risner and guard Robert Castaneda. All three are high schoolers, and hail from three different states: Missouri, Colorado and Texas.

8. Iowa State
Total commits: 1
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 1
Class notes: Iowa State's lone commit is receiver Allen Lazard, an Urbandale, Iowa, native who's on our ESPN 150 Watch List.

9. West Virginia

Total commits: 1
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 0
Class notes: West Virginia has just one commit from Ricky Rogers, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver from Monroeville, Pa.

10. Kansas

Total commits: 1
Commits on ESPN 150 Watch List: 0
Class notes: Kansas got on the board with its first commit of the 2014 class earlier this month. Running back Traevohn Wrench, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound running back from Gardner, Kan., is Charlie Weis' first official pledge for 2014.
