RB Malcolm Brown: Let there be no dispute on whether Brown is feeling healthy these days. The junior back powered Texas' offense against Kansas, picking up 119 yards on 20 carries and finding the end zone a career-best four times. Not bad for a guy who had 15 total rushing yards through the first three games this season. Brown broke runs of 21, 24 and 30 yards and picked up three of his touchdowns on tough goal-line rushes. The one-two punch of Brown and Johnathan Gray is really rolling right now.
DT Chris Whaley: As we wrote after the game Saturday night, Whaley evidently has a new-found knack for game-changing plays. When he scooped up a Jake Heaps fumble and rumbled 40 yards for a touchdown, he changed the course and momentum of this game. Texas went ahead 21-6 and didn't look back. Neither did Whaley, who ran in untouched and was dogpiled by his fellow Longhorns defenders. He also broke up a pass and recorded a quarterback hurry against KU.
DE Cedric Reed: Jackson Jeffcoat gets more attention, but Reed quietly continues to put together an impressive resume this season. He recorded five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks against the Jayhawks and forced the fumble that Whaley scooped up on a blindside sack. He now has 9.5 TFLs and five sacks on the year.
