25-year countdown nearly over for SMU
By Jeff Caplan
The SMU Mustangs have been living the good life in Hawaii since Saturday. The luau is almost over.
Kickoff at Aloha Stadium for the Hawaii Bowl featuring SMU in its first bowl game in a quarter-century against Nevada Wolf Pack, is one day away. While there has been plenty of celebration, the Mustangs, 7-5, aren't playing the just-glad-to-be-here card. They can't. They've come too far this season to end it on a sour note.
"It’s very important," Mustangs record-setting senior receiver Emmanuel Sanders said. "We have to go out and we have to win. We have to put the exclamation point on this season."
