Soaring start for Air Force, 14-0
By Jeff Caplan
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Falcons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with a six-play, 69-yard drive capped by Asher Clark's 36-yard scamper to the end zone. Surprise on the drive was consecutive pass attempts from quarterback Tim Jefferson and completions for 15 yards. The real shocker was the first pass on third-and-2 for a first down. That was the first time all season that Air Force passed on third-and-3 or fewer this season.
Then the nation's No. 1 pass defense came up big. Cornerback Anthony Wright intercepted Houston quarterback Case Keenum. That led to another quick touchdown drive, this time set up by a 38-yard completion by Jefferson to Kevin Fogler at the Houston 6. Jared Tew ran it in from there for a 14-0 lead iwth 8:52 left in the first quarter.
