Baylor rising, Texas falling
By Jeff Caplan
Today's new Top 25 polls should be interesting. Kansas is poised to take over No. 1, although Syracuse and Villanova could sneak in. Then, there's No. 6 Texas. After needing a solid second-half to rally past Texas Tech and then losing at home to Baylor in overtime, could the Longhorns find themselves out of the top 10 for the first time this season? After losing three of four, it's highly probable.
Heading in the other direction are the upstart Baylor Bears. Unranked in the ESPN/USA Today poll and No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll heading into last week's games, could the Bears rise into the top 15? OK, maybe not that fast, but expect Baylor to get in both polls today. And give them credit for bouncing back from the aggravating, two-point loss at home against Kansas State and then taking it to Texas in Austin. If you haven't checked out this piece on Baylor's emerging big man Ekpe Udoh, here it is.
Keep an eye on Texas A&M perhaps sneaking into the bottom of the poll again.
