Is Missouri now running an end-around?
By Jeff Caplan
Missouri couldn't get out of the Big 12 fast enough, but without a Big Ten invite in hand and with the Big 12 on a possible path to implosion, Missouri appears to be getting cold feet about its tenuous situation.
Rumors are circulating that Missouri has sent out emails reminding school officials to tell the media that they are proud members of the Big 12 Conference. Well, that's nice.
But could a re-committed Missouri help save the Big 12? Sure. If the remaining schools form a strong alliance, the conference can survive with 10 teams or it can look to expand. But it must have a unified front if it plans to stay together.
Perhaps Missouri is now starting to mend fences as it realizes the Big 12 might be its best shot to remain in a major conference.
