Steele coach Mike Jinks attributed his star player's decision to Texas' new offensive philosophy.
"I think the change of the style of offense was big," Jinks told ESPN.com's Bruce Feldman. "Malcolm was excited by their commitment to run the ball and saw the opportunity there."
Brown ran for 2,192 yards on just 197 carries for an 11.1-yard average and 24 touchdowns last season. He is the second five-star recruit to give a commitment to Texas and the 10th player from in the ESPNU 150 to pick the Longhorns.
