No contest: No. 4 TCU drilling Baylor, 21-3
By Jeff Caplan
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The oddsmakers in Las Vegas are looking pretty smart right now. No. 4 TCU, more than a three-touchdown favorite over Baylor, has wasted no time demoralizing the Bears under a hot mid-afternoon sun.
The Horned Frogs scored a touchdown on each of its three first-quarter drives. Andy Dalton hit a wide-open Jeremy Kerley on the opening drive for a 28-yard touchdown. Ed Wesley romped 49 yards on the second drive and Matthew Tucker tacked on a 1-yard run for a 21-3 lead after one quarter.
Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin has found the sledding tough against TCU's defense. He has four carries for 17 yards and is just 3-of-7 passing for 27 yards. Kicker Aaron Jones got the Bears on the board with a 48-yard field goal to briefly trim TCU's lead to 14-3.
TCU amassed 211 yards of offense in the opening 15 minutes.
*Ed Wesley's 49-yard touchdown run was the longest carry by a Horned Frog this season and the second-longest play from scrimmage, trailing only an Andy Dalton to Skye Dawson 52-yard pass completion against Oregon State.
*Andy Dalton's 28-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Kerley was his 47th career scoring toss. He needs two more to tie Max Knake (49, 1992-95)for TCU's all-time lead.
*An 11-yard Dalton completion to Evan Frosch represented the first reception by a TCU tight end this season.
*A 16-yard rush by Jeremy Kerley on a 4th-and-1 from the Baylor 48 was TCU's first fourth-down conversion attempt of the season.
*Matthew Tucker¹s 1-yard first-quarter scoring run was his team-high third rushing touchdown of the season.
