According to Orangebloods reporter Chip Brown, the 16-team conference would potentially start its own TV network that could command premium subscriber dollars worth upwards of $20 million in revenue to each of the schools. Brown also reported that, if the merger were to happen, the new conference would include schools with a firm hold on seven of the country’s top 20 TV markets.
The Horned Frogs' game against SMU also will be broadcast on ESPN at 7 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 24.
TCU is 13-3 in its last 16 games against teams from BCS-qualifying conferences. Besides Oregon State (Pac-10), TCU also will face Baylor (Big 12) on Sept. 18.
The Horned Frogs round out their nonconference schedule with a game vs. Tennessee Tech on Sept. 11.
TCU's Mountain West Conference schedule will be released later this spring
by the league office.
