Tsk: Gary Patterson will miss parade

LOS ANGELES -- Since he was kid in rural Kansas, barely able to grip a football, Gary Patterson remembers New Year's Day as the best TV day of the year, starting in the morning with the Tournament of Roses Parade and later with the Granddaddy of Them All, the Rose Bowl itself.

Heck, we all do.

But, now that Patterson has his third-ranked TCU Horned Frogs actually playing in the darn game against the No.5 Wisconsin Badgers, he'll be too busy Saturday morning to catch the kaleidoscope of floats.

"The only disappointing thing is I won't be able watch the parade on TV," Patterson said, then he paused. "I'll get over it."

Somebody alert Patterson how to set his DVR from his cell phone.
