Newman's proven in payback games
Newman played poorly in the Cowboys' September loss to the Giants and readily accepted accountability in the locker room after the game. It was a similar scene to what occurred during and after a September 2008 home loss to the Washington Redskins.
Newman rebounded with one of the best performances of his career the next time the Cowboys faced the Redskins. In his first game back from sports hernia surgery, he picked off a pass and held Santana Moss to 29 yards on five catches in the Cowboys' 14-10 win.
Newman won't shadow a Giants receiver Sunday, as he did against Moss last season, because Mike Jenkins has emerged as close to Newman's equal as a cornerback. But Newman has a score to settle with the Giants' top two receivers, Steve Smith and Mario Manningham.
A focused, motivated Newman is a forced to be reckoned with, as the Redskins learned last season.
