Emmitt weighs in on short-yardage woes
Jerry joked that he didn't bother asking Emmitt Smith about his preseason prediction (7-9) for these Dallas Cowboys. But the owner/general manager was interested in Emmitt's opinion on the Cowboys' short-yardage woes.
Marion Barber was stuffed five times on third- or fourth-and-short in the second half, turning three promising drives into a grand total of three points.
That didn't cost the Cowboys against the Redskins, but it was a painful reminder of the game-turning goal-line stand the San Diego Chargers had a couple of weeks ago in Cowboys Stadium.
"We both know we shouldn't be walking back there and handing the ball off seven yards deep to make a foot," Jones said. "We both know that. He was quick to point that out, Coach Smith."
I'm sure Jerry will be quick to relay the message to Coach Garrett.
