NFLPA trying to save salary cap

The NFLPA sent a letter to player agents today stating it asked the NFL owners to continue the current capped system for an additional year.

If the two sides don't come to terms by March 5, the 2010 season will become an uncapped year and hundreds of players who would have become unrestricted free agents such as Miles Austin and Marcus Spears for the Cowboys, remain restricted free agents.

The next bargaining session will take place on Thursday from the Scouting Combine.

Update: Greg Aiello, a spokesperson for the NFL, said the league would have no comment.
