Money, physicals holding up trade
In an update, Carpenter and Barron are scheduled to take physicals on Sunday. Carpenter is in California right now and won't get to St. Louis until Sunday.
Physicals must be taken and money details must be worked out to finalize the deal sending Carpenter, the Cowboys' inside linebacker, to St. Louis for Barron, a left tackle.
Both players must pass physicals, which doesn't appear to be an issue, and Barron has to sign his restricted free agent tender offer of $2.62 million.
Carpenter, in the last year of his contract, has an incentive clause where he could make $1.895 million. The Rams would have to agree to honor that portion of the contract, and there is no indication they won't.
