Cory Procter, who was cut by the Cowboys on Monday, visited the Patriots today and is expected to meet with the Dolphins on Thursday.

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston tells you why the Patriots are interested.

Procter, a guard/center, never caught on with the Cowboys. He did, however, start 11 games in the 2008 season for an injured Kyle Kosier.

But the Cowboys re-signed Montrae Holland to a two-year deal and moved tackle Pat McQuistan to guard, plus they are giving Travis Bright a look at center. Those moves led to Procter getting cut.

Also, Procter, who was the first Cowboys player to sign his tender offer, was given a second-round tender worth $1.759 million.
Calvin Watkins joined ESPNDallas.com in September 2009. He's covered the Cowboys since 2006 and also has covered colleges, boxing and high school sports.
