Cornerback depth a serious concern
It is a reminder of how thin the Cowboys are at cornerback.
If one of the top three corners goes down, the Cowboys are in trouble. That's especially concerning considering the facts that Terence Newman turns 32 in September and has missed nine games in the last three years due to injuries.
The probable emergency solution at this point would be to move Alan Ball to corner in the nickel and dime packages with Mike Hamlin playing free safety. That's a classic case of weakening two spots to fill one.
Sixth-round pick Jamar Wall, Cletis Gordon, Marquis Floyd and Bryan McCann will get opportunities the rest of the offseason to prove they're worthy of a roster spot.
But let's be honest. If any of those guys get significant playing time in 2010, they might as well wear a bulls-eye.
The Cowboys would be wise to consider the veteran cornerback options.
