Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Eugene Lockhart Jr. was jailed Friday morning for violating the terms of his release while awaiting trial in a federal mortgage fraud case, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Authorities told the newspaper that Lockhart failed a drug test that was administered as a condition of his release before trial.
Lockhart, 49, who played seven seasons for the Cowboys after they selected him in the sixth round of the 1984 draft, has been out on bond since his arrest in September 2009. He is charged with conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, and aiding and abetting.
