Patrick Crayton working at holder

SAN ANTONIO -- We've always told you the NFL is about backup plans, and the Cowboys are preparing for a backup holder.

Yes, Mat McBriar is still the holder and Tony Romo can do it as well, like he did last year when Nick Folk asked for a change.

Patrick Crayton, however, also is taking snaps at the holder position.

Crayton did it last year in practice but not a game.

"We’re going to see how it goes," Crayton said. "Coaches wanted me to get some work in and get used to doing it and stuff. [Bill] Parcells used to say, 'The more you can do.'&ndsp"

At Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he played quarterback, Crayton was also the holder.

"I've done it before in college, and Parcells made me do it my first two years here," he said. "I wasn’t asked to do it, and I took snaps last year."
