IRVING, Texas – Defensive end Igor Olshansky has no regrets about dancing while the Cowboys were down 18 points against the Giants.

Olshansky twice celebrated tackles late in the fourth quarter with silly dances. He got up after one and did a dramatic high kick. His other celebration was either a double throat-slash or a bizarre Russian jig. He was rightfully ridiculed by the TV announcers.

“I really don’t care what the announcers said about me,” Olshansky said Wednesday. “I play this game for my family and for myself, not for anybody else’s opinion or what they think about me.

“I have a lot of pride in what I do. If you’re going to run the ball my way, I’m going to make the play, and I’m going to let you know it. Period.”

The way Olshanksy sees it, he has the right to celebrate when he wins his battle and makes the play.

Never mind that the Cowboys allowed 497 total yards – 200 on the ground – while getting whipped on their home field by a division rival.

“I take pride in stopping the run,” Olshansky said. “This was a no-nonsense type of deal. I knew that they were going to run the ball. They knew that they were going to try to run the clock out, so it was a lot of fun.”

Olshansky’s dancing exhibition didn’t draw any flags for excessive celebration. But the Cowboys did commit that penalty the two previous weeks, causing Wade Phillips to plead with his players to hold off on celebrating until they actually won a game.

“I talked about touchdowns certainly, but it’s overall,” Phillips said. “You want guys to make plays and be happy about it, but you certainly want to win the game, and that’s the most important thing.”

Instead, the Cowboys lose games and their dignity on a weekly basis.
