IRVING -- The Cowboys are still mathematically alive for the postseason. The reality is it appears remote. The team needs to win its remaining games and get some help to reach the playoffs.

But that doesn’t mean the Cowboys can’t impact other teams' playoff berths.

The Atlanta Falcons, who face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, can clinch a playoff spot with a victory and a combination of two losses by either the Eagles, Giants or Packers.

Dallas hosts Philadelphia on Sunday night at Cowboys Stadium.

If the Falcons tie, then the Giants, Eagles, Packers and Bucs must lose for them to get in.

A 8-8 finish is the Cowboys’ goal, and knocking teams out of a playoff berth seems the best thing this team can do right now.
