IRVING, Texas -- If the Cowboys are going to have any players in the Pro Bowl, they will have to do significantly better in the voting by players, coaches and personnel people than they did with the fans.

The Cowboys did not have a player win the fan vote at their position and only one finished second. DeMarcus Ware was second to Green Bay’s Clay Matthews at outside linebacker. Matthews had 466,501 votes, while Ware had 294,397.

Mat McBriar was third among punters in the fan vote. Arizona’s Ben Graham was No. 1 with 196,658 followed by Minnesota’s Chris Kluwe (184,735). McBriar had 108,987 votes.

Tight end Jason Witten finished fourth among NFC tight ends with Washington’s Chris Cooley making a late push. Atlanta’s Tony Gonzalez won the fan total with 458,527 votes, followed by Cooley (340,077), San Francisco’s Vernon Davis (325,005) and then Witten (280,598)

Dez Bryant, who is out for the year with a fractured right fibula, finished third in the fan vote among kick returners.

Players, coaches and personnel people are voting this week. The team will be announced next Tuesday.
