Jerry Jones: 'I'm mad as hell'

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- How does this loss affect interim coach Jason Garrett's chances of earning the job on a full-time basis?

Owner/general manager Jerry Jones apparently needed time to ponder that question. He wasn't prepared to answer while standing in the visitors locker room at University of Phoenix Stadium after the Cowboys blew a late lead in a 27-26 loss to the Cardinals?

"That's not something that I'm even thinking about right now," Jones said. "I'm mad as hell and I know all of our fans are. That's where that is."

The loss dropped Garrett to 4-3 as the Cowboys' interim coach, with the three losses coming by a combined eight points. That's still impressive, considering the 1-7 mess that Wade Phillips left to clean up, but the Cowboys don't look like a team that's progressing.

They blew a 16-point lead last week against the Redskins but rallied to pull out the win. They dug a 14-point hole during this Christmas game, then fought back to take the lead only to blow it in bumbling fashion.

The Cowboys have proven that they'll battle with Garrett in charge, something that wasn't the case the last few weeks under Phillips. That's swell and all, but it's also the bare-minimum expectation for a respectable NFL team.

Is Garrett the best fit for the full-time gig? The Cowboys didn't help his case on Christmas, but Jones will wait until his head cools before determining how much this loss will weigh in his decision.
