At the start of the 2010 season seven head coaches called the offensive plays: Denver’s Josh McDaniels, Arizona’s Ken Whisenhunt, Green Bay’s Mike McCarthy, New Orleans’ Sean Payton, San Diego’s Norv Turner, Buffalo’s Chan Gailey and Houston’s Gary Kubiak.
By the end of the year Whisenhunt gave those duties to passing game coordinator Mike Miller and McDaniels was fired. Kansas City’s Todd Haley called plays in 2009 after firing Gailey, but handed those duties to Charlie Weis this year.
"I was forced to do it last year," Haley said after a game this year. "But I never thought that's the way it should be done. My mindset is to be head coach of the offense, defense and special teams. You have to devote too much time to be a great play caller on offense."
The second half of the season was enough to convince Jerry Jones that Garrett could handle the head coach and play-calling roles.
Is there any worry about Garrett doing it full-time in 2011?
