The Cowboys have no plans to trade Dez Bryant, but if someone calls asking them about him, of course they would talk about it.

That's what NFL teams do all the time, it's nothing new.

PODCAST
Tim MacMahon and Calvin Watkins discuss whether it's even worth bringing up a trade of Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant.

But with the holes on this team, secondary, offensive line and pass rush, a discussion on how to fix these holes with draft picks is a must discussion especially if you can get another first rounder.

Nothing wrong with that.

However, the Cowboys won't do it. And shouldn't do it.

Bryant was probably their best receiver last season. He showed he has good hands, speed and is physically strong enough to compete in this league.

You can say what you want about his off-the-field issues in terms of getting to meetings on time and fussing about not getting the ball, but that falls under the category of maturity. He will understand that yelling and screaming on the sidelines doesn't get you the ball more often all it does is put you in a negative light.

Bryant has said he's just passionate about the game and wants to help his team win. Former receivers coach Ray Sherman said Bryant never disrespected him or his teammates during some sideline rants.

When it comes to getting on time to meetings, Bryant improved in that area as well. He got to meetings on time as the season progressed and is learning about being a professional.

Jason Garrett loves the potential he has in Bryant and wants to use him more in the offense. Garrett wants more weapons because it makes it hard for defenses to stop a offense.

Jason Witten, Miles Austin, Felix Jones and Bryant are four playmakers the Cowboys can use on a weekly basis to win games.

Why would Garrett want to lose Bryant among that foursome?

He doesn't. But if a team comes calling, there's nothing wrong with talking about it.
