The NFL Players Association will hold a rookie symposium called "Business of Football" on June 28-29 in Washington, D.C., spokesperson George Atallah told ESPN Dallas on Tuesday.

The normal rookie symposium is conducted by the league, but that's been canceled because of the lockout. The same talking points -- media, money management, dealing with family and friends, among other things -- will be discussed at this event.

When the NFL conducted the symposium, it was considered mandatory and well-received. This one is voluntary and it isn't known if all of the Cowboys' draft picks will attend. One agent who represents a Cowboys' draft pick didn't even know about the NFLPA event.

However, Carl Carey, second-round pick, Bruce Carter's agent, said his client will attend the symposium.

"It was important for us to do this because it's a critical time in the lives of players who are about to enter the league," Atallah told Jim Trotter of SI.com. "Lockout issues aside, it's important that players are prepared for this next phase in their lives and careers."

According to the SI story, the NFLPA will cover the cost of the voluntary event, including travel and lodging.
