Tony Romo loses in second round

June, 15, 2011
IRVING, Texas -- Tony Romo will not be winning the Wisconsin State Golf Association Match Play Championship.

The Cowboys’ quarterback was knocked out in the second round by Steve Johnson, losing, 1-up, at The Brute Course at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Romo tied for the low medalist in Monday’s stroke play event with a 2-under 70 and won his first round match Tuesday, but he got off to a slow start in his match with Johnson. After getting to 1-down with a birdie on No. 11, Romo could not get closer as he and Johnson closed the match with pars the rest of the way.
