DeMarcus Ware at No. 12 in ESPN rankings
Ware finished 12th with seven votes among the eight panelists, which is the same spot he finished on the NFL Network list on Sunday.
One difference: Ware is the second-ranked defensive player on this list behind Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu, who is fifth. The bloggers leaned heavily to offense with New England’s Tom Brady taking home the top spot over Indianapolis Peyton Manning. The only other defensive players to finish in the top 20 in voting were Green Bay’s Clay Matthews, Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets, San Francisco’s Patrick Willis and Pittsburgh’s James Harrison.
On the NFL Network list, we’re assuming Chicago’s Julius Peppers, Baltimore’s Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, Polamalu and Revis will be in the top 10 because they have not been ranked yet.
In the ESPN.com rankings Ware was kept off six ballots altogether, including NFC East blogger Dan Graziano. Calvin Watkins already promises to give Dan some grief.
