Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo made a final-round run Sunday but couldn't catch Jack Wagner and finished second to the actor at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Stateline, Nev.

Romo trailed Wagner by six points in the modified Stableford scoring heading into the final round.

Wagner stretched the lead to 10 points through eight holes Sunday after a fast start, but Romo fought back.

"He put a lot of pressure on me to play a great round of golf," Romo told The Associated Press. "When you make six birdies in the first 11 holes it usually is over by that point."

Rome eagled the 315-yard 11th hole and birdied No. 13, while Wagner hit a rough patch. That cut the lead to two points. But Romo missed a birdie putt on 17 and found water on 18 as Wagner held on for an 80-77 victory.

Former Dallas Star Mike Modano finished tied for 20th with a total of 44 after closing with seven points, his worst round of the three-day tournament.

Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith had his second consecutive round of nine points and totaled 10, good for 53rd out of 83 golfers in the field.

Mavericks guard Jason Kidd also closed with nine points to get into positive territory with a total of five, tying him for 56th place.
