ARLINGTON, Texas -- Cowboys backup quarterback Jon Kitna missed Monday's afternoon practice with a sore lower back. Kitna said he hopes to return Tuesday.

Kitna did participate in Monday's walkthrough session in the morning.

There were some new injuries after the walkthrough:

Linebacker Brandon Williams missed practice with a lower back problem, wide receiver Dominique Edison has a knee issue, and rookie cornerback Josh Thomas left practice with an undisclosed injury. He walked off the field with two trainers.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins wore full pads but didn't work in team drills as he still recovers from a stinger.

Center Andre Gurode (knee) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (hip) have participated with no issues after missing time last week with their injuries.

Safety Danny McCray, who bruised his ribs in Thursday's preseason game vs. Denver, said he would like to come back this week. McCray wore his practice pants during practice, so it's uncertain if team officials will allow him to practice.
