ARLINGTON, Texas -- With the Cowboys using different combinations along the offensive line for much of training camp, continuity has become a worry.
What about in the secondary?
Terence Newman missed most of training camp with a groin injury and is hoping to be back for the Sept. 11 season opener against the New York Jets. Mike Jenkins has missed most of training camp with a stinger and is expected to miss Sunday’s game against San Diego.
“They’re learning the system,” safety Abram Elam said. “They’re in the meetings. They’re in the walkthroughs. They’re getting a chance to get all of the information. We’re just not able to have them on the field. That’s something that will come in time.”
“We have to be able to communicate and see things the same way and echo the calls across the secondary,” Elam said, “so we need to be on the same page as well.”
