ARLINGTON, Texas -- When the Cowboys return to practice Tuesday, they will say hello again to a few veterans and welcome a rookie.

Linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring) and running back Tashard Choice (calf) will practice for the first time since the early part of training camp, and third-round pick DeMarco Murray, who strained a hamstring in workouts during the lockout, will see the field for the first time.

Brooking strained his hamstring while returning an interception, and Choice strained his calf on a carry on the first day of camp.

Wide receiver Miles Austin, who strained his hamstring last week, will also take part in practice after missing the two practices and preseason game against San Diego.

Because they will need time to work their way back into form, it is not clear whether any of them will be available for Saturday’s preseason game at Minnesota.

Guard Montrae Holland is at least a week away from returning with a sore back, while defensive end Marcus Spears will also sit out this week with a groin strain suffered in Sunday’s preseason game vs. the Chargers. Defensive end Jason Hatcher (toe) could return this week, as well.
