IRVING, Texas -- Jason Garrett has some decisions to make regarding not only the 53-man roster but who plays in Thursday’s preseason finale against Miami.
Garrett has said that he will probably follow the same path Wade Phillips walked when it came to the last preseason game and rest his regulars for the Sept. 11 regular-season opener at the New York Jets.
But does he attempt to sneak in a few snaps for cornerback Mike Jenkins and guard Montrae Holland, who have not played in a game because of a stinger and back injury respectively? Jenkins returned to practice last week but was limited in his contact. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Holland has lost weight in his rehab and conditioning work.
“The goal is to get everybody ready for the Jets in the opener,” Garrett said “We’ll evaluate that as a team and then evaluate it individually.”
Garrett said linebacker Keith Brooking seemed to get out of Saturday’s game at Minnesota without any incident after returning to practice last week. Brooking missed most of camp with a hamstring strain suffered in San Antonio.
Rookie running back DeMarco Murray also returned to practice last week and had a team-high seven carries for 32 yards. He also caught one pass for 7 yards.
“It was nice to see him out there after going through a week of practice but he still has to acclimate himself to play at the NFL level,” Garrett said.
