IRVING, Texas -- Safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah has been moved to wide receiver, at least on a temporary basis.

The injuries to Miles Austin (hamstring) and Dez Bryant (quad) have raised some depth issues at the position.

"Nothing is permanent, we certainly like [Owusu-Ansah] and what he's done for our football team," coach Jason Garrett said. "We like having him in the developmental role on our practice roster if you remember when he came out of school, he was a small school guy, he was injured, missed his whole first offseason, missed time his rookie year, so he's really behind and so we like his development as a secondary guy.

"He does have a lot of athletic ability so and when you see that is when you're trying to function in practice, and a lot of times defensive guys have to play offense and offensive guys play defense."

As it stands, the only healthy wideouts on the roster are Kevin Ogletree, Dwayne Harris, Laurent Robinson and Jesse Holley.
Calvin Watkins joined ESPNDallas.com in September 2009. He's covered the Cowboys since 2006 and also has covered colleges, boxing and high school sports.
