Free returned to the Cowboys with a four-year, $32 million deal but not after Philadelphia made a hard push for him to protect Michael Vick’s blindside.
“I don’t know anything about that, no, sorry,” Free said with a smile on his face.
Eagles coach Andy Reid wanted to sign Free based on how well the offensive tackle had played the previous two years against his team. Maybe he had visions of Free 40 yards down field on a 49-yard touchdown run by Felix Jones in the 2009 regular-season finale.
“I think he’s a good player,” Reid said. “I can’t tell you I thought we ever had him. I will tell you I do like him and I did like him back in that period.”
