IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins is hoping to return against Miami on Thanksgiving from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the last two games.
Jenkins suffered the injury in the second half of the 34-7 loss at Philadelphia on Oct. 30 and was expected to miss 3-4 weeks. With such a quick turnaround from this week’s game against Washington to the matchup with the Dolphins, it would not make sense for Jenkins to put that much stress on his leg.
Orlando Scandrick has started the last two games in Jenkins’ absence.
“We want to make sure they’re ready to go and ready to be themselves before they go out there and play,” Garrett said.
The Cowboys are in the middle of a three-game-in-12-days part of the schedule, but Garrett said the plan this week is focused solely on the Redskins, whom the Cowboys beat, 18-16, earlier this year.
“We’ll have a quick turnaround next week getting ready for the Thursday game,” Garrett said. “But we’ve played in those Thursday games before. We feel good about how we prepare for them. But the thing we need to focus on more than anything else is our preparation for Washington.”
