A decision will be made on free safety Gerald Sensabaugh's status after a pregame workout.

Sensabaugh is listed as questionable with a sprained right foot. He did not practice this week, but he's optimistic that he will be able to play Thursday afternoon against the Dolphins.

"Treatment has been going well and I'm feeling like I can pull it out," Sensabaugh tweeted Wednesday night. "Thumbs up to the training staff."

If Sensabaugh cannot play, second-year safety Barry Church will start.

The Cowboys are high on Church, who has seen his role increase recently as a linebacker in some substitution packages. However, defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and several players cited communcation issues as a factor in the Lions' comeback after Sensabaugh suffered a concussion in the third quarter of that game.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford struggled most of that game, but he completed 10 of 16 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns as the Detroit scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

"Church is a real smart guy, but at the time, he wasn’t as involved as he’s been lately," Ryan said Wednesday. "When he went in the game -- and I’m sure that he also had a little something going on with that shoulder that he dislocated and still played with, which is a credit to him -- we did suffer in communication. ...

"We’re going to get tested with our communication, but we do have Abe [Elam] back there. It all starts with him and Sean Lee, and we’re going to be fine. And Barry Church has really grown. We’ll be OK."
