IRVING, Texas -- With a number of head coaching jobs expected to come open across the NFL when the season ends if not earlier (see Jacksonville), the name of Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan figures to be mentioned prominently.

ESPN’s John Clayton said Ryan could be near the top of Jacksonville’s list because of its need to sell tickets and the success of Ryan’s brother, Rex, with the New York Jets.

Ryan has made no secret about his desire to be a head coach one day to join his father, Buddy and twin brother, and his defensive players believe he’s ready for a job, too.

“I think Rob should’ve been a head coach,” said safety Abram Elam, who was with Ryan in Cleveland before joining the Cowboys. “That’s his dream and he’s definitely prepared himself for that. He’s been a good coach. I believe in him. I think he’ll do a good job.”
