IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys kicker David Buehler had right hip surgery on Tuesday, which was unrelated to the groin injury that landed him on injured reserve.
Buehler missed four games because of a groin injury he suffered Sept. 18 at San Francisco. He returned for two games against Philadelphia and Seattle but was never fully healthy and aggravated the injury again, which led to his season being cut short.
Buehler lost his field goal job to Dan Bailey to enter the season but was kept on the 53-man roster to handle the kickoff duties. He had nine touchbacks in 18 opportunities and had two special teams’ tackles.
He said he should be cleared in time for the beginning of the offseason conditioning program.
